There's been some traffic on the mailing lists on the best way to organise our collection of stuff (books, equipment etc). Some of the suggestions so far are:

From the discussion, the key features we need are:

  * easy check in/out
  * some items can be borrowed, others cannot
  * barcode driven? - [AlBennett] I accidentally bought a serial barcode scanner off eBay for a fiver, would be cool if we could barcode stuff.
  * cheap to implement
