LDR stands for Light Dependent Resistors. They are components which have low resistance in light conditions, and high resistance in dark conditions. {{workshops:ldr.jpg?0x300}} They can be used in a voltage-divider circuit to create a voltage which varies with light levels. Arduinos and many other microcontrollers can then read this voltage and use this information about the light levels to interact with the world. {{workshops:ldr_voltage_divider.gif?0x300}}
