There's been some traffic on the mailing lists on the best way to organise our collection of stuff (books, equipment etc). Some of the suggestions so far are:

• LibraryThing
• ISBN Scan + Amazon API + Relational Database
• Delicious Library - Mac only
• GCstar - open source collection manager - this looks interesting
• http://www.touchatag.com/e-store
• Simple page on the wiki

From the discussion, the key features we need are:

• easy check in/out
• some items can be borrowed, others cannot
• barcode driven? - [AlBennett] I accidentally bought a serial barcode scanner off eBay for a fiver, would be cool if we could barcode stuff.
• cheap to implement
